>>>we bring sad news on this the final day of august.  empire strikes back and indiana jones actor michael sheard has died at his home on the isle of wight today of cancer.  sheard, 65, memorably portrayed admiral ozzel, prompting george lucas to hail his choking by darth vader as "the best screen death i've ever seen.", and gathered a new legion of fans, but in the uk he will always be remembered as deputy head mr bronson in the long-running children's show grange hill.  a regular at conventions around the world, sheard had become linked to the charity sheardy love.  he will be greatly missed.

>>>in a recent article discussing the percentage that hollywood movies make in the global market, star wars got a neat mention.  closing out the piece by edward jay epstein, george lucas' space epic is mentioned as one of the few american movies to make big bucks in the foreign market.  "george lucas' three star wars prequels account for a large part of hollywood's foreign earnings in recent years. hollywood has found that fantastic aliens—even ones intent on destroying the earth as in steven spielberg's war of the worlds—are more palatable to foreigners than high-school teenagers coming of age or playing baseball."  with war on $570.6 and sith on $834.5 worldwide respectively, it's good to know that the movie brats still rule the yard.

himbimimam

Standing well over two and a half metres tall, this member of the Imbam race was a barroom brawler, smuggler, Janos operative and trusted friend of the Cipples, Jan Lomonas family and almost everyone he came into contact with.  Feared for his size and strength, Himbimimam, or Himbs for short, was a gentle giant who had to be crow barred into violence.  Despite his horrific injuries at the hands of Geon Tasars men on Janos Himbs still managed to keep Tasars men Worlog and Milogick tied up until the Berone Sunrise was safely off Janos.  Himbs became a mentor to the young Shadow Warrior Weale Galletti, training her for her many covert jobs and becoming attached to the young girl in the processAfter the fall of Glann Cipple he later came to serve the Cipple Sisters during the Ki-Ki/Setnin War and was valuable for his extensive knowledge of names and faces from the past.

>>>an unsuspecting member of the 501st midwest garrison was in for a nasty surprise while innocently waiting at the ramada inn, janesville wi.  two squad cars and four officers confronted the stormtrooper, and after a short while the misunderstanding was cleared up and the trooper was released.  lucky for the police the shoe wasn't on the other foot - stormtroopers called to such incidents often tend to shoot first and don't bother to ask questions at all...

>>>our look at selected characters of importance from the history of the setnin sector continues with romanoe, the outlaw tech who was always on the move throughout the setnin sector.  with an uncanny knack for fixing starships, his skills were always in high demand...

romanoe

Sector-famed starship mechanic who was a close friend of Jan Lomona and Goah Galletti.  Running his operations from various bases throughout the Mid-Rim, Romanoe was known for being able to procure almost any engine part for any make of starship.  Building his reputation from scratch, Romanoe worked as a chief mechanic before striking out on his own.  During the early days of the Empire times were hard for the underworld, and Romanoe made his name by being able to procure, and more importantly, install illegal equipment, while always being on the move.  Ably assisted by his team of top mechanics, Starren Mrann and Paige Lomona among them he continued to wield a large influence through the outlaw tech community, and on occasion assisted Glann Cipple.  While not cheap by any means, Romanoe’s work was always guaranteed to be of the highest quality.  But no refunds – he was a hard man to track down.

>>>our look at selected characters of importance from the history of the setnin sector continues with arcc nedeen, war general and dark force user who worked alongside the empire and for his own ends, causing misery wherever he went...

arcc nedeen

Humanoid, long-lived leathery skinned war general from an ancient race known as the Bedois.  Born over 1200 years ago on the world of Bedois, Arcc Nedeen profited from the Bedois trait of each successive generation taking the life force of the previous one.  When the Jedi wiped out the Bedois, removed the planet from galactic starmaps and renamed the world Alganar III a thousand years before, Nedeen was rendered almost immortal, taking the life force of the entire twenty thousand remaining members of his species.  Nedeen was a tactical genius and had worked for the likes of Longbody and Komag the Hutt. Nedeen worked for Imperial Grand Moff Galgen and used his latent force abilities to Galgens tactical advantage, despite the fact that he himself was vulnerable to a visit from Lord Darth Vader, the Emperors henchman who was intent on wiping out the existence of all force-users.  Lying low for long periods of time, Nedeen was once imprisoned on Varoone.  Nedeen encountered the smuggler Jan Lomona on the planet Junduk IV in the Ki-Ki Sector where the then Jedi Student Joah-Qui-Lan appeared to kill Nedeen in battle.  Injured but alive, Nedeen continued to plot against Joah-Qui-Lan and eventually joined with Glann Cipple to invade and take the Setnin Sector by force, during which time he faced Qui-Lan again and was believed destroyed, although his remains were not found.

>>>our look at selected characters of importance from the history of the setnin sector continues with gern omik, pirate and smuggler who turned his hand to many concerns and was a continual problem for many operators in setnin...

gern omik

Untrustworthy lizard pirate-turned-assassin who once raced swoops on Raca City against Skeet Jonas and made an assassination attempt on Jan Lomona on the world of Lifferia.  Also involved with Anzai Karoo, and preferring to use his ornate sword instead of his blaster, Omik had fleshy, lizard-like features and a small furry chattering creature draped around his neck. At this time in his career he attempted to start a bounty hunting syndicate known as Gerns Gunnas, a concern that lasted a very short time.  Also known as the Razorman, Gern was not as sensible as his younger brother Drabse but still made his reputation swiftly, dealing in sugar and spice running and generally being a thorn in the side of many Setnin operators.
