>>>the force net bring some interesting news from the directors guild of america hosted 'an evening with george lucas', and the news is more than encouraging. tf.n reader helen h reported that the reason why george lucas is concentrating on animated and live action series and not further films is that “the future is in television.” the young indiana jones chronicles are currently being cleaned up, are having documentaries added to them and will be shopped as “films for a modern day high school history class.”
lucas is hoping they will be released on dvd in the near future. lucas is extremely excited by the forthcoming 2008 animated clone wars series, and is aiming to recreate the ambiance of a star wars film in cartoon form – “there won’t be anything on tv like it” – it’ll be “smart ass comedy with contemporary humor," but fans expecting more tales of the skywalker clan will be disappointed as their story is told. it seems the remit of the show is for individual, stand-alone episodes. some episodes are about clonetroopers, another features kit fisto. the show will run to 100 episodes and as yet has no network attached. the live action series, mooted for a 2009 release, is reportedly still a few years away and no character decisions have been cast in stone. lucas did say that each show, as with the animated series, will be with different characters. oh, and don't hold your
breath waiting for an appearance of the flannelled one at celebration 4, or presumably celebration europe as he will “be in the middle of making a movie.” i wonder what film he means...
