>>>our look at selected characters of importance from the history of the setnin sector continues with aurran, jan lomona's trusty and loyal droid who saved him from doom on many occasions...

aurran

Correctly referred to as Z-3BO, this old former A-desandian security droid was activated eighty years before the Battle of Yavin on board the Republic cruiser Renown III, a ship operating within the Setnin Sector.  Aurran has been in the service of the Lomona family for many years, watching out for Jan and keeping him out of bother with his strict parents.  Coming with Lomona when he left A-desando, Aurran remained with the outlaw tech Romanoe for a while during the first Gang War. During a brief spell Aurran acquired information about a rival gangleader that Glann Cipple wanted eliminated, the Chancai based ganglord Wessen.  When Cipple learned of this knowledge he threatened to strip Aurran to his bare wires, but Romanoe and his efficient crew saved the old droid.  Loyal and independent, Lomona knew that whilst he was away from his ship, the Berone Sunrise was safe in Aurran’s capable hands.

>>>revenge of the sith has closed the gap but still lies $17.6 million dollars behind finding nemo.  with the hugely anticipated release of the dvd now lying just 35 days away it seems unlikely that sith will now make the all-time top ten.  a shame then that lucasfilm didn't give the movie one final worldwide push as it leaves cinemas in an effort to cement its place in the top ten.

>>>december 6th, the same day as clone wars season two, brings a re-release of 2004's star wars trilogy dvd box set.  with new cover art, this is purely the dvd versions, in other words the 1997 special editions with the enhanced 2004 sound and new effects.  retailing for $49.95 this will make a worthy addition to any dvd collection for the box art alone.

>>>our look at selected characters of importance from the history of the setnin sector continues with dressel, the underworld ganglord who was once a partner of glann cipples but later became his most dangerous enemy...

dressel

Formally an ally and friend of Glann Cipple. Along with Anzai Karoo, Dessio D’Staan, Riger and Cipple, Dressel ran a successful operation with them until sixteen years before the destruction of the first Death Star.  However, various events led to the demise of the group partnership – D’Staan left with his family with all the details of the runs to the Core, Riger disappeared under mysterious circumstances and after an altercation Dressel and Cipple went their separate ways, Cipple to build his empire out of Amagad and Dressel from Cawbate.  Dressel went it alone and built the major competitor to Cipples stranglehold in the Setnin Sector, using the talented smugglers Petrol Merritch, Sull Dinn and Velka Mararr and sometimes utilising the talents of Jan Lomona.  For a while Dressel teamed up with Mister Spyte in a partnership known as the Talismen but this was short-lived.  Ensconced in the Duet, his Catamaran-style Sailbarge, Dressel ran a tight operation.  Smooth, slick but above all devious and brilliant, Dressel continued to be a major figure in the underworld for many years, taking the prominent position following Cipples escape from Setnin after the Heed debacle.    Seven years later when Cipple attempted an invasion of Setnin alongside Zobian Pirates and Arcc Nedeen, Dressel was wise enough to give aide and work with fellow gangleaders to repel the threat. Dressel met his death at the hands of Riger, who had spent years planning his revenge under the guise of the bounty hunter Queed.  Dressel was pushed off the same cliff in Old Veshat Town on Trefnare that he had pushed Riger off many years before.

>>>our look at selected characters of importance from the history of the setnin sector continues with kaile mirrener, mercenary and ex-rebel alliance member who had visions of a fearful destiny...

kaile mirrener

Mercenary and ex-member of the Rebel Alliance from the planet Wennicas.  Of half A-desandian parentage, and a distant cousin of Jan Lomona, Kaile was always intent on doing the right thing, joining as he did the Rebel Alliance for a time, and feared a senseless death.  Wounded on the ice planet Hoth and returning to the Setnin Sector, Mirrener occasionally worked with Droob Hunstat and Ryath Centaur, including a mission to Branta with Centaur and Tarr Ranth that ended up in a battle with the Imperial Interdictor Voracious over Morb.  Mirrener’s dreams were haunted by visions of his own death in a lonely corridor, a vision that eventually came to pass.

>>>our look at selected characters of importance from the history of the setnin sector continues with the swoop racer skeet jonas, son of grand moff galgen and a man with a hidden history...

skeet jonas

This young human speeder bike racer led a full life.  Born on Coruscant and, unbeknownst to him the son of Imperial Grand Moff Galgen, he was taken to the desert planet of Tatooine by his mother at the age of nine and brought up by moisture farmers in the township of Mos Banely on Tatooine after the accidental death of his mother at the hands of the bounty hunter Queed.  Jonas bought a speeder bike, which he raced, until the Empire shut down such activities.  Hoping to make his fortune, Skeet entered the Tatooine Ten Thousand, a punishing speeder bike challenge across the surface of the planet, of which the first prize was 500,000 credits.  Jonas failed to win, and trashed his speeder in the process.  Owner of the droid Enneight, Skeet also had a latent ability in the Force - a trait passed down to him from his mother, Fuida Galgen-Jonas.  As well as the speeders, Skeet had a business arrangement with fellow swooper Driss Cotta.   Skeet left the world of racing behind for a number of years until a meeting with legendary racer Veen Bern made him change his mind and join Driss Cotta’s racing team.

>>>our look at selected characters of importance from the history of the setnin sector continues with grand moff galgen, father of the swoop racer skeet jonas and collaborator with arcc nedeen...

grand moff galgen

Born on the world of Lebbat in the Brother Sector, Galgen was father of the speeder bike racer Skeet Jonas.  Four years after Skeets birth, Galgen answered the call to join the Separatist movement and swiftly rose through the ranks.  Appalled at her husbands neglect of his family Skeets mother Fuida Galgen-Jonas fled to Tatooine with her four year old son where she was eventually tracked down and killed by the bounty hunter Queed, who’d been hired by Galgen to find her.  Galgen didn’t find out that Queed had spared Skeet’s life until many years later. After the end of the Clone Wars and the transition from Republic to Empire, Galgen governed Junduk IV and briefly Raca City before his rise to the rank of Grand Moff. Galgen secretly used the talents of the Bedois alien dark force user Arcc Nedeen, hoping to impress Imperial Centre enough to give him a posting on Coruscant.  However, whilst Galgen was aware that Nedeen was a force-user, so did his adversary Komag the Hutt who also employed Nedeen.  Komag threatened to blackmail Galgen and tell his Imperial superiors of the illegal use of a force user but failed to do so before his own death.  Although Arcc Nedeen escaped, Galgens illegal use of a force user was revealed by Lieutenant Terrov and Galgen was taken back to Imperial Centre for execution.
