A public 'SW' service announcement:

Hello, I am a French fan of Star Wars. I put online a petition to save
the building which was used in 1976 by George Lucas to appear as the cantina of Mos Eisley in episode 4.

This building is located in Tunisia, and for more than 2 years I'm fighting to protect it against its
being razed to the ground. A lot of French fans are providing support to this fight.

The Cantina is now saved from direct destruction, but it needs to be restored to avoid further
degradations on the remaining parts of the building. We also want to affix a commemorative plaque on it.

Our fight is difficult as we need, both money and further support from the Tunisian government which
is not sensitized enough to this project to take the necessary decisions.

That is why we created this petition. We hope to collect a sufficient number of signatures in order
to present them to the Tunisian authorities, showing them the interest of a great number of people all over the world for this project.

Thus, if you can, please take two minutes to sign the petition. The address to sign is: http://yan.navarro.free.fr/petition/

Thank you in advance (and excuse my approximate English)!

A message from the website:

Hello,

May be you have seen my website (http://star-wars-expedition.site.voila.fr/ ) about my journey in Tunisia, looking for Star Wars shooting locations. Everyting was impressive, but unfortunatly 95% of the places are now abandonned and plundred…And it's the same for stages builded for Episode I. Of course, the hotel representing the "lars's, farm" is still there, but even if the country of Tunisia is proud of is patrimony, the autorities don't really care of it.

The most impressive for me was "the Cantina of Mos Eisely". Placed in the center of the town of Agim, the house still exist since 1976, but the town was changed and "the Cantina" is the last building of Star Wars on the city. During my visit to Ajim, I have heard that "the Cantina" will be destroyed soon !! I was completely upset. When I come back to France i decided to do something to save "the Cantina".

After one year of e-mails with "Island of Djerba patrimony association"and visits to Tunisian's authorities in France, my first battle is win : the building wouldn't be destroyed !

But now, I need your help for step two in this battle.

We must repair the building of "the Cantina"and place a commemorativy plaque (like some places in Tunisian's stages).

As well as possible to sensitize the Tunisian administrations for the financing of the project, it is necessary that is was supported significantly by a great number of people.

First step is presenting to you : the petition. Thank you for your enrolement !
