Trouble on Tantum V - Recorded on 5th August 1986 as an NHP audio recording, the origins of the story were set back even further than that. Plans had been made to expand NHP's Star Wars line from audio to include cine films. NHP's comedy division had done just that with a growing library of cine films made between 1986 and 1990, but clearly a Star Wars project would require much more work than that. |
A number of drafts of the script were written, by Mark Newbold, Jonathan Hicks and Paul Squire, who ran a separate division of NHP known as NHP Whitestorm. During the initial stages of the scripting cast members were discussed, languages designed, storyboards drawn and logo's drawn. The project would include many school mates and the help of friends to build sets and stitch costumes.
And yet despite the large amount of planning that went into the project, Trouble on Tantum V never made it to the screen, surviving only as an audio drama until even that was lost in 1990 during Jonathans house move. But, presented here, are a collection of images, scripts and designs from 1986 and the pre-production for Trouble on Tantum V.
THE LANGUAGE OF TOTV - Being set on an alien world, Trouble on Tantum V (TOTV) would make use of an alien language. Designed by Mark, this was inspired by the Ewok language details published in the Fall 1984 issue 29 of Bantha Tracks.
THE GREEN SHEET - Known by nhp as 'the green sheet', this early detailing of Trouble on Tantum V includes cast details, special effects information and doodles by current Lightsabre Roleplay editor Jason Brown.
