Thirty years
young and showing no signs of franchise fatigue, Star Wars still manages
to find it's way into not only the popular press but the nations hearts.
A weekend dedicated to the saga, with four fan favourites was yet
another opportunity to celebrate the saga's triple decade anniversary...
Star Wars visited
Merseyside the weekend of October 20th - 21st, with saga stars Richard
LeParmentier, Gerald Home, Paul Blake and Rusty Goffe visiting the
Spaceport at Victoria Place in Wallasey to charm and thrill the fans.
With the massive media attention it garnered, they certainly did more
than their fare share in bringing attention to the Sci-Fi at the Movies
exhibition, which runs through to March 30th 2008...
Gerald Home,
Tessek and Mon Calamari officer, Return of the
Jedi
Gerald - "It
was fab. They have a great Sci-Fi at the Movies exhibition going until
next March. Here's their link:
http://www.spaceport.org.uk/index.aspx. I was there with
Richard, Paul and Rusty."

Gerald - "We
were brought together for the event by KOTE - Knights of the Empire - a
great group of people who are determined to have FUN, something of which
I approve!"

Mark Newbold,
Webmaster and Editor
Mark - "The coverage the
weekend has garnered in the local press around Merseyside, as well as
through sites like this, Jedi News and The Force Net has been fantastic,
and in no small part to the appearance of our good friends Rusty, Paul,
Gerald and Richard."

Mark - "With the event
running through until next year, this is a great chance for fans young
and old to go down, visit the ferry port and get a real close-up look at
the alien stars of the saga. The costumers Skywalkers have helped
put on this event, and it's credit to them and Knights of the Empire
that this has taken place."
Mark - "Here we have a great
YouTube video of the event, added by Knights of the Empire."
Gerald
marvels at the size of his Chocolate Orange
Mark - "Here we have some
exclusive photo's that Gerald has kindly sent through to us.
Proving that the exhibition isn't just about Star Wars, we see him
peering down the throat of a Facehugger egg from Alien."
Gerald
and E.T catch up on old gossip...
Mark - "In Jedi Gerald played
two aquatic-based creatures, Mon Calamari and Quarren from the world of
Mon Calamari. With their long webbed fingers he must have felt at
home holding E.T's spindly hand."
Has anyone
ever mentioned that Home One was named after Gerald?
Mark - "How could he possibly
not get a photo with his fishy alter-ego? Great stuff from a great
guy, it's always a pleasure to deal with Gerald. In the end the
weekend broke the 5000 attendance barrier, a record for Spaceport."
People have really
outdone themselves by using
Halloween costumes to transform
themselves into
Star Wars characters for this
convention. Make sure you are a part of the fun next year and
purchase some Star Wars
costumes of Darth Vader, a
Stormtrooper, Jango Fett or Chewbacca. You can come up with some
really very
funny costumes that will delight the
crowd and get some laughs and kind comments. Use your
imagination and have fun selecting a
character so obscure that people need to think hard or ask you
who you are dressed up as. Enjoy!
