STAR WARS Battlefront 2

The Star Wars Galaxy just got even closer

Review by Mark Newbold

This is the game every Star Wars fan has been waiting for since...well, since last year and Battlefront 1!  With more options of attack, styles of play and locations, this not only expands on the original blockbuster game but takes it to another level entirely.

Sacrificing detailed graphics for improved gameplay, Battlefront 2 has a different look to it's progenitor, and a different feel.  With the ability to jump into a ship and fly from capital ship to capital ship - and in either the Clone Wars or the Galactic Civil War, your choice - the options are amazing.  You name it, you can pretty much do it, from taking on legions of Stormtroopers as Luke Skywalker to blasting Tusken Raiders as Han Solo.

The points system is also somewhat different, as you now need to amass points via the number of kills you achieve.  And the longer you stay alive, tallied with the type of attack actions you take during each session, dictates the awards you get, and how you progress.

With the new space flight system available to you it takes some time to get comfortable with the mechanics of this, as well as the new weapons rules.  Guns now overheat and are rendered useless if you don't keep a close eye on them, so beware when in open ground during gunfights.  But the extra options of vehicles available make this a hands down fun game to play, and after a handful of runs at the game you will soon be flying and blasting away to your hearts content.

All in all an improvement over the groundbreaking Battlefront, and here's to the next advance in Star Wars gaming...
