STAR WARS - Renegade Squadron PSP goes Star Wars Review by Louis Turfrey
It’s very rare to see a game that has been produced for one format, and one format only, but this is the case for Battlefront: Renegade Squadron and like the majority of Battlefront ports, this one doesn't disappoint.
Considering the screen size the graphics are at least as good as the PS2 versions of Battlefront, but like Battlefront 1 and 2 game play is the king.
Whether you are battling on land or in space, missions are varied in scope. You can play on the ice fields of Hoth, or fly an X-Wing against an Imperial Star Destroyer. If you are good enough, you'll get a chance to play as Han Solo - the leader of Renegade Squadron. Most missions are based upon capturing flags or waypoints, and destroying locations or creatures. Not that much different from previous incarnations of Battlefront then really. However, game play is well thought out, especially space combat.
To get the best out of the game though, you have to look towards the multiplayer options.
Eight PSPs can battle it out together on a wireless network, or up to 16 over the Internet. This option make Battlefront: Renegade Squadron a game that you just have to keep coming back to, and for the price it is extremely good value for money. If you are a Star Wars fan and you own a PSP then buy it – it’s that good.
